We make a stop there for coffee or cheese empanadas. And so begins this trek, descending along the Peñaliri or Machuca River and its impressive canyon, where you can appreciate the flora, fauna, and human remains so characteristic of the Altiplano and its history. Halfway through the trek, we stop in Peñaliri for a break and a snack. Then we continue walking towards the village of Rio Grande, passing through small, now-abandoned villages, where you can see evidence of agriculture based on the cultivation of alfalfa, broad beans, garlic, and onions.

INCLUDES TRAIL
