Machuca Rio Grande

SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
WHAT TO BRING: Trekking clothes, water, sunglasses, sunscreen.
ALTITUDE: 4,000 to 3,200 meters above sea level

(puede ser en ascenso).
MINIMO 4 PERSONAS.

We leave San Pedro heading north on the road that leads to Machuca (4,000 meters above sea level). We make a stop there for coffee or cheese empanadas. And so begins this trek, descending along the Peñaliri or Machuca River and its impressive canyon, where you can appreciate the flora, fauna, and human remains so characteristic of the Altiplano and its history. Halfway through the trek, we stop in Peñaliri for a break and a snack. Then we continue walking towards the village of Rio Grande, passing through small, now-abandoned villages, where you can see evidence of agriculture based on the cultivation of alfalfa, broad beans, garlic, and onions.
