We set out along the Paso de Jama international route, making our first stop at the base of the Licancabur volcano. From there, we head toward the Kipiaco lagoon, where we pause for photos and coffee while observing high-altitude birds native to the area—such as flamingos and Andean gulls—as well as vicuñas, foxes, and other wildlife.
Next, we continue our journey to visit the "Monjes de la Pacana" (Monks of the Pacana)—vertical stone sculptures shaped by the erosive forces of wind and rain on the high plateau; these structures stand approximately 15 meters tall. We then head to the "Catedrales de Tara" (Cathedrals of Tara), striking rock formations found in the region's hills. Afterward, we descend to the Tara Salt Flat and Lagoon—a body of water that serves as a habitat for flamingos and a water source for llamas, vicuñas, and foxes. We enjoy our lunch amidst this beautiful landscape before returning to San Pedro.
