I.- CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
DAY 1: (SANTIAGO) – COPIAPO – VALLE CHICO
Reception at Copiapó airport. Transfer to Valle Chico where we will camp (3000m). (L,D)
DAY 2: VALLE CHICO – LAGUNA SANTA ROSA
Short acclimatization hike around the campsite. Continue the journey towards the Altiplano. Arrival at Laguna Santa Rosa (3800m) where we can observe pink flamingos and the 6753m Tres Cruces volcano. Set up camp. (B,L,D)
DAY 3: LAGUNA SANTA ROSA (Trekking)
Acclimatization day at Laguna Santa Rosa. High-altitude trekking. Camp. (B,L,D)
DAY 4: LAGUNA SANTA ROSA – LAGUNA VERDE
We enter the Altiplano region. Along the way, we can observe the highest volcanoes on the planet: Tres Cruces (6753m), Incahuasi (6621m), and Ojos del Salado (6893m). Camp near the natural hot springs of the beautiful Laguna Verde (4400m). (B,L,D)
DAY 5: LAGUNA VERDE (Trekking)
Rest day and acclimatization trek in the Laguna Verde area. (B,L,D)
DAY 6: LAGUNA VERDE – UNIVERSITY OF ATACAMA REFUGE
Ascent to Camp 1. Accommodation at the University of Atacama Refuge (5250m). (B,L,D)
DAY 7: ATACAMA UNIVERSITY REFUGE – TEJOS REFUGE – ATACAMA UNIVERSITY REFUGE
Port to Tejos Refuge (5750m) and return to Atacama Refuge. (B,L,D)
DAY 8: ATACAMA UNIVERSITY REFUGE – TEJOS REFUGE
Ascent to Camp 2 (Tejos Refuge) and camp. (B,L,D)
DAY 9: TEJOS REFUGE – SUMMIT – TEJOS REFUGE
Ascent to Ojos del Salado (6893m). Return to Tejos Refuge. (B,L,D)
DAY 10: TEJOS REFUGE – LAGUNA VERDE
Descent to Laguna Verde or second summit attempt. (B,L,D)
DAY 11: LAGUNA VERDE – COPIAPO
Return to Copiapó and transfer to the hotel (B,L)
DAY 12: COPIAPO – (SANTIAGO)
